If the patient has an infectious lesion of the mouth and throat, Stomatidine is included in the complex therapy. The drug works well with drugs that have zinc and fluoride in their composition.

Stomatidin: Indications. Inflammatory and infectious diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx: Angina.

The main substance – hexetidine – is active in the mucosa for 70 hours, which is quite enough to stop the inflammatory process (50-60 hours). Since the components do not penetrate into the blood, they are eliminated from the body with saliva.

Hexetidine is retained on the mucous membranes, and the substance is almost never absorbed. In the primary concentration Stomatidine remains in the oral cavity for 8-10 hours (sometimes up to 3 days). In the interdental spaces and dental plaques the drug is active for 12 hours.

Mechanism of action

Bactericidal effect is provided even at low concentration of hexetidine. The main feature of the substance is that microorganisms are not able to develop resistance to it: the substance affects thiamine, which is part of the favorable environment.

Antiseptic effect of Stomatidine is provided due to the ability of hexetidine to inhibit the secretion of thiamine (a vitamin necessary for pathogenic gram-negative and gram-positive flora to multiply). The substance has a similar effect against fungi.

The antiseptic effect of Stomatidin is enhanced by the ethyl alcohol in its composition. Alcohol increases blood circulation in the mucous membranes, thus improving metabolism in the tissues. Thus, the affected areas recover faster. Another component of the drug – razentol – also helps in regeneration.

The anesthetic effect is possible due to the activity of methyl salicylate. This property of Stomatidine is especially relevant for stomatitis, when the mouth is covered with painful sores. The drug is able to rapidly anesthetize the mucosa, providing comfort for 8 hours. In addition, the components of Stomatidine accelerate epithelialization, thus preventing tooth decay.

100 ml of Stomatidine solution contains:
